Function Statement
Function:
The Collection Management Coordinating Team
is responsible for developing and maintaining the NDSU Libraries’
information resources in support of the University’s responsibilities
for instruction, research and public service.
Accordingly, the Team will:
- identify faculty and student information needs
as well as those of off-campus constituencies.
- develop and update collection policies for the
NDSU Libraries in general as well as for specific subject areas.
- determine how best to allocate the NDSU Libraries
materials budget in order to purchase or lease materials which
best meet collection needs.
- participate in developing cooperative collection
agreements with other libraries and library systems.
- represent NDSU Libraries at Tri-College, state
and regional meetings concerning library collections.
- provide a forum for discussing and sharing information
concerning collection management issues.
Meetings:
The Team’s regular meeting time is determined at the beginning of each semester; meetings are open to all staff members.
Minutes are distributed to all staff via the Library Listserv and
archived on the library server as per library policy. An agenda
will be distributed through the Library Listserv..

Voting members:
Non-Voting members (for decisions regarding material and database selection/de-selection):
A facilitator and secretary will
be chosen by the team every two years in August. The facilitator is responsible for calling and conducting the meetings.
Voting:
A quorum of one-half plus one of the voting members is required
to pass binding decisions. A simple majority of voting members present
is needed to carry a motion.
