Biosis Database Available

Through special funding from the Vice President for Academic Affairs, NDSU Libraries has set up a trial subscription to the BIOSIS database.

BIOSIS, the database equivalent of Biological Abstracts, is the worlds premier biological sciences database. It covers a wide range of bioscience topics and provides abstracts of articles in more than 5,000 international journals. Subjects covered include agriculture, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany, ecology, the environment, microbiology, neurology, pharmacology, public health and toxicology. About 12,000 records are added to the database each month. Although the entire database contains over 5,000,000 records, the NDSU subscription is currently runs from January 2001 to present.

BIOSIS is a SilverPlatter database accessible via both the web and client software. Currently the database is only available via the Web from the WebSPIRS link on the Libraries home page or directly at:

https://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/spirsdist

New versions of the WinSPIRS and MacSPIRS client software are being built and will be available shortly. Due to licensing restrictions, BIOSIS is only available from computers on the NDSU campus computer network. No remote access to this database is available.
