The Center for Writers

The Center for Writers is in Room 6 on the lower level of the basement, next to the main stairway. The staff at the Center for Writers can help you with editing, citing references, and much more. Get the help you need to produce a polished report or paper.

Computer Clusters

There are three computer clusters in the lower level of the Library, rooms 14A, B, and C. The computers in these rooms should be used for word processing and other computer projects. The computers elsewhere in the Library are set up as research stations.

Newspapers

Newspapers are kept on the south side of the lower level. The Library generally keeps newspapers for one month only. A number of newspapers are available online. If you have questions or need help locating a newspaper, ask at the Reference Desk.

The room with the newspapers is also a large study area. The individual study rooms on the lower level can be reserved through the Circulation Desk.

Microforms and Maps

Microfilm and microfiche are housed on the lower level of the Library. Topographic maps are also located in this area.

Microfiche and microfilm store information in a highly condensed format. Microfiche is a plastic sheet the size of an index card, and microfilm is on a spool. The materials are in metal cabinets and arranged by Dewey Decimal call number. Machines to view and print from the microforms are located next to the cabinets.

There is a help desk in the Microforms room for your convenience. If no one is available at this desk, ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
