Bill Reid Memorial Fund
Fund established to honor first Institute
archivist
NDSU Libraries has established the Bill Reid Memorial
Fund to honor the first Institute for Regional Studies archivist.
It will be used for Institute acquisitions.
Reid, professor of history at NDSU from 1967 to
1986, became the Institute archivist in 1971. He held that position
until 1977, and also served as the NDSU archivist until his retirement.
Reid died Nov. 13, 1998.
Reid was born in Muleshoe, Texas, on April 17, 1931.
He attended Eastern New Mexico College, served in the United States
Army from 1953 to 1955, and earned his doctorate from the University
of Oklahoma in 1963. He taught history at East Ceneral State College
in Ada, Okla., from 1962 to 1963, and at Wichita State University,
Wichita, Kan., from 1963 to 1967. At NDSU, he specialized in North
Dakota history and United States economic history.
